Welcome and About Us

David Gray and Matt Teague are proud to own and manage Keld Lodge Hotel.

Set in magnificent moorland countryside of Gunnerside Estate, at the head of Swaledale, Keld Lodge sits at the crossroads of three renowned long distance hikes; The Coast to Coast, The Pennine Way and The Herriot Way. The Coast to Coast in particular has been consistently voted one of the best long distance walks in the world.

From late Spring to early Autumn we welcome thousands of long distance hikers from all corners of the world.

Originally built as a shooting lodge in 1860, Keld Lodge has been open as a hotel and restaurant since 2007 and is the ideal base from which unwind and relax.  Enjoy some wonderful walks in one of Yorkshire's finest dales or explore some of Northern England’s rich cultural heritage and visit some of our vibrant market towns.

In the quieter months of early Spring and late Autumn we invite you to take advantage our special offers for dinner bed and breakfast.

Should you be looking to celebrate a special occasion with family and friends our hotel is available for exclusive use bookings.

From our dining room window, lounge and many of our bedrooms there are superb views of Upper Swaledale. Whatever the weather the scenery is always fantastic!!

Our bar is stocked with local real ales and is open to the public.  Our restaurant is open to reservations for non-residents.

At our hotel we believe we understand what our guests are looking for. We provide a warm welcome, clean and comfortable rooms with a hot relaxing shower, a big walk-in drying room for wet boots and clothing, with a full evening menu and a friendly bar to round off your day.

We are pet friendly and welcome well-behaved dogs throughout the hotel except in our dining room.

If you would like more information or would like to make a room or table reservation please email or phone us.
